Welcome!

💡
Hi, I'm Alison :)

I was born in Cuba and came to the US with my family when I was 11 years old. I had to learn English as my second language and go through tribulations with my family as immigrants in this country.

My parents always stressed the importance of studying, and let me through the path of becoming someone better, for me, for them, and for my future.

I am your typical pre-med student with a science major and some minors, with shadowing, clinical experience, and with the passion of becoming a doctor in the future. - Great

So now... What did I create this blog?

Well, after my bachelor's graduation, the process for medical school became a little bit lonely.

Every class I attended was FULL of pre-med students, and when I mean full, I mean like, 90% of the class was in the route to become doctors in MS. So to say this, it was easy to speak with others about the process and exchange ideas/tips. Seeing them every day reassured me of my path to medicine one way or another.

But...

This changed when I graduated and never saw them again.

Unfortunately, my close friends and family do not want to go to med school (I guess that's a good thing too lol) so I had to continue my path alone.

Of course I could always text my classmates for tips any time I needed, but it was different now that I had graduated and wasn't seeing them in class everyday. I also didn't want to make things weird and leave a bad image of me now that everyone went their way... I overthink too much.

Now that I'm writing this, maybe I am a little introvert after all.

Oh well.

So I continued doing my research and preparing for the MCAT myself, until it occurred to me that maybe I am not the only one going through this process alone

Yay! :D

So this blog began.

I know we always have reddit to bent and connect with others in our communities, but I wanted to start this as a way of showcasing my journey and putting it out there for others to see, and hopefully, find useful.

  • I hope to write my journey through medicine in this blog. Now starting since pre-med :)
  • I hope to release some of the anxiety and stress this process gives into something beautiful and valuable.
  • I hope this blog can be useful/helpful to others that are going through the med journey as well.
  • I hope I can help others, as others have helped me in the past.

And ultimately,

  • I hope everyone reading this can aspire to be the greatest they can be, and achieve their full potential in every aspect of their lives.

You got this! I got this! We got this!

I hope to see you around!
